Pretty relevant considering his celebrity in the MTB world. That said, appears you cared enough to comment.

The housing market is HOT here in CA, and why not if you have other residence(s) elsewhere in the USA. I'm sure as it was getting built he didn't think it was going to be an investment property. Sell it and make a few hundred thousand that can go into his other properties/investments.
Or his team budget is a little more than anticipated and he has to liquidate.

I guess that he is making his living out of this wonderful sport, good for him!

Didn’t he says he bought a place in Montana and the I thought Neko said he got a place near Windrock. I don’t know.

I'd specifically request his broken chain from Leogang, signed Red Bull helmet, and become his regular dentist upon closing..

It doesn't look very warm or inviting. Nice place but not my thing.

Can confirm, definitely his house, these are the original photos from when it was freshly built.

Best of luck to him. Kids who want to be a DH pro with something to aim for if they work it the right way. 👊

Looks so solid. Wasn’t it all plywood when he build it?

From a racing career perspective, hasn’t he said there’s only a couple local trails he trains on, and that he’s had to look elsewhere for more European style of tracks? If I were in his shoes I’d sell it for a place like France or Switzerland for more riding diversity.

Damnit that house is nice but it's missing a pump track or jump line in the garden.

I am saying yes he is done with Socal. He put up all his Surfboards for sale. Based on some of his social commentary not really surprised

Insane house to keep if it’s no longer your main home. I’d guess is they are taking advantage of a hot market to maximize return (bigger and more custom the home the harder it is to return to the costs as people don’t want to spend as much for someone else’s dream. Probably will get a condo or something big enough for them and a few guests when they are in Cali and put the difference in their other homes or something in Europe.

Imagine what he can get in Knoxville area for a 1/4 of the price of that.
Real Estate is always a solid investment for the wealthy, I am thinking that probably cost him about 1.5-2 million to build. $2 million return on investment in 2-3 years is pretty good if you ask me.

If you look closely at a clearly AMAZING bathroom with killer views (I want a home with a southern facing window in the bathroom and a view for shitting), there is a picture of Gwin and his wife on their wedding day.

Makes total sense. Being a part of the whole motobro big truck culture (no judgement, I'm a southerner) has to be a little weird in a place like Southern California. Montana and Tenner seem like much better fits for someone like Gwin.
Also: I imagine that having two houses in Montana and Tenn is way more sustainable as he starts a family than one massive house in California. On top of that, his days of million dollar contracts aren't going to last forever (if they even still exists). He needs to be setting himself up for the long term now.
Living in Northwest Arkansas, we get a TON of transplants from the west coast (and Austin) who are blown away by how far their dollars go here in comparison. Of course, the irony is that it feels REALLY expensive here now than it has in the past thanks to all these folks moving here.

I move d to Bentonville Summer 2020 from Denver. Definitely much happier with the volume of riding out of my garage what my money could buy (at least 1.5 years ago)

Looks like he purchased the land in 2014 for $215k. Good for him and congrats!

I think I read somewhere he was trying to get some trails he rides right out of his house protected and not developed so I wonder if that didn't work out so no need for the house at the top of the hill.

HOA probably said a big NO WAY to any of that type of "landscape feature".
Looking at the HOA dues at $75/mo, that seems low. But there may be no clubhouse or amenities nearby.

Meanwhile, Richie Schley, Steve Peat, Brian Lopes... All have places in Whistler they bought 15 years ago.
Isn't Schley done sort of real estate guru ?

I would contend Southern California is the galactic HQ of motobro big truck culture.
